VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is the leading research and technology company in the Nordic countries and it has recently developed a design accessory for monitoring the indoor air quality. The monitor resembles a sailing boat and can also be used to detect other gases, movement, sound, and the amount of light. The monitor uses comfort light signals to indicate the concentration levels of carbon dioxide in a room. LEDs give indication if the concentration of gas measured by the sensor exceeds a certain level.

The monitor is based on IoT technology so the platform can be used to monitor the indoor air quality as gas sensor remotely and to communicate with other similar IoT devices. The sensor used in the device is based on infrared radiation at wavelengths where many gases show absorption. And data can be accessed by mobile phones and cloud services.

Thanks to the hybrid integration technology, it is possible to manufacture the product on an industrial scale at low cost.
